God has not saved you to sit in the stands. God has not saved you to lie on the track. God has not saved you sit on the edge of the pool with your feet in the water. 1 Corinthians 9:24-27 encourages us to be dedicated, be determined and to have deliberate action so we may run the race of life. Running in a way that glorifies God — that demonstrates that he is real and worthy and precious and powerful and pure and loving and gracious. We run the race of life so we may reveal who Christ is for us and who we are in him and how precious the prize of eternal life with him is to us.

John the Baptist was laser focused on the message of repentance, to prepare people for the Messiah. He was the announcer--the opening act, so to speak--of the ministry of Jesus. In this last message of the year, Pastor Andrew walks us through Luke 3, John 3, and Mark 9 to show how John the Baptist illustrates kingdom-minded living. John shows what it means to submit our life to Christ, that life is not about us. It's amazing what can be done in the kingdom of God when we seek first the things of God.
