At Heritage, everything that we do is in pursuit of the Great Commission. It’s what forms our mission: To help people Find and Follow Jesus. Heritage Groups are a key way we intentionally live out this mission, because we believe real life happens surrounded by community. God never designed us to navigate life alone!

So what does a Heritage Group look like? Since each Heritage Group is filled with real life people doing real life together, each Group will be a little different. We have groups designed around activities, common interests, serving, studying, learning, prayer and a bunch more… but every one of them are chasing the common goal to CREATE SPACES FOR PEOPLE TO CONNECT WITH GOD AND EACH OTHER, GROW IN THEIR FAITH, AND LIVE ON MISSION.

Here’s what that looks like in every Heritage Group

CONNECT WITH GOD AND EACH OTHER: We connect best in consistent environments with clear communication. Each Heritage Group commits to gathering on a consistent basis and communicating that consistency in the Groups list. Some groups will focus on gathering people around a common interest or taking Jesus to a public place, others focusing on studying a book or Bible study… but all of them will work to create space to connect with God & each other.

GROW IN OUR FAITH: Clear, intentional, practical steps that we can take in community are one of the best tools for growth in our Faith. This happens through study, discussion, or even just intentional conversations. That is why each Heritage Group commits to keep Jesus at the center and each leader leads the group with this purpose.

LIVE ON MISSION: We are called to GO. Go beyond the walls, beyond the gatherings, beyond the comfortable. To go into our communities, cities, and beyond. That is why each Heritage Group understands, discipleship takes many forms and looks different for every person. It makes sense that we have groups for different people and approaches to grow in our faith… but this should always lead us to living out our faith in the world around us, and inviting others to experience Jesus!

 COMMON QUESTIONS ABOUT HERITAGE GROUPS

  • Heritage Groups are people who meet together on a regular basis, drawn together by common interests, a specific topic, or a particular demographic. In a Heritage Group you’ll meet people who live near you, are in the same stage of life as you or have similar interests. Whether you are reading through a Bible study together, diving deeper into the weekend messages, or unpacking a season of life, our Small Groups are places where community is built and lives are changed.

  • Heritage Groups run in two main seasons. Our Fall Season runs from September through December and our Spring Season runs from February through May.  Groups Semesters allow for easy on-ramps for people to jump into a group throughout the year or find a groups that fits best for them.  Many Heritage Groups continue to meet year-round, but every Group Leader is encouraged to commit to leading both semesters for consistency. 

  • Groups meet on different days and times throughout the week. Most choose to meet every week, others meet bi-weekly. Some Groups will also take a semester to semester approach while others will meet year-round, but every Group Leader is encouraged to commit to leading both semesters for consistency. 

  • Groups meet in homes, restaurants, offices and coffee shops all across our communities. Some Groups meet even meet virtually online.  The Group Search function allows you to find the right group that fits you!

  • Not all groups offer childcare, but quite a few do. You can see which groups offer childcare through our Group Search.

  • Heritage Groups are about finding community and all people are different. The good news is, there are a lots of groups to choose from at Heritage Church, so if you try one and it’s not quite the best fit, no worries! Try another one and don’t give up. We believe there is a group that is right for everyone!
