Easter 2018 at Heritage Lake Zurich
Β
We love underdog stories. Whether it's a sports game or a movie, we're inspired by comeback stories. Yet in our own lives, it's easy to start believing that a comeback just is not looking possible.
Β
On Easter morning, we introduced our new series entitled The Comeback. A key message is this: the greatest source of hope for any problem we have is Jesus. In this Easter morning message from Matthew 19, Pastor Skyler talked about the discussion between Jesus and a rich young man who thought he had it all together. It's not a story about money. Rather, it's a reminder about what is on the throne of our life. Jesus' response to His disciples is true for you today: "With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible." Please share this message with your friends and family, and join us this Sunday as we continue the series!
Known by our Community
What would you do if you knew you were going to die in 12 hours? For Jesus, it was to pour into the disciples. And a key instruction he left with them is this: Everyone will know that you are my disciples if you love one another.
In this last message in our Known series, Pastor Andrew gives us a vision for what it could look like if we lived in our communities as people marked by love--for God and for those around us. Every human problem is an open door for the gospel. Watch this replay to be challenged to get off the bleachers and onto the field, to live out the role you have been uniquely equipped to play.
Known by Each Other
God's will is not for you to do life on your own--it's to be in community with others. Acts 2 gives us a glimpse of what this looks like. In this message, Pastor Carlos shares how life together begins by knowing Christ. We learn together. We care for each other. And we worship together. Join us for this reminder about the beloved community of Jesus Christ, where we become a family of brothers and sisters.
Known by God
What did Moses, Noah, David, and all the other people in the Bible have in common? They were all known by God. And they and knew about Him, and being known changes everything.
XO Relationship Goals: Raise Adults
Becoming a parent adds a new dynamic to a marriage. It adds joys, for sure, but pressures as well. It is one of the toughest jobs on the planet.
XO Relationship Goals: Have Fun
Do you want to increase your likelihood of building a lasting marriage? Couples who are intentional about developing intimacy develop strong relationships. An old Calvin and Hobbes cartoon remarked, "Itβs funny how day by day, nothing changes. But when you look back, everything is different.β Similarly, marriages can go from arms locked to arms folded.
XO Relationship Goals: Stay Pure
It's rare that a person wakes up and says, "Hey, I think I'll ruin my life and marriage today!" Yet sin is a slow killer of marriages and relationships.
We continue our series about building marriages and relationships on Biblical principles with this message by Pastor Carlos on holiness and purity. Contrary to what culture may think, holiness and purity bring freedom. Pastor Carlos shares lessons from Galatians 5 to help us see the struggle is real but you can win. There is hope in the God we serve.
XO Relationship Goals: Fight Fair
We continue our series on relationships with this message about conflict in marriage. All couples fight. Healthy couples fight fair. Healthy couples fight for resolution. Unhealthy couples fight to win. In this message, Pastor Skyler shows how God's design for mutual submission is not weakness (as our culture would suggest). Rather, in God's design for relationships, submission becomes a source of strength.
Watch this replay to be challenged that the message of your marriage should mirror the message of the Bible. We are deeply loved despite being deeply flawed. When we see how much we're forgiven, we more easily forgive those around us. At that point, it's not the absence of conflict that leads to marital success--it's the presence of humility. You'll also get some extremely practical advice based on James chapter 1 to help you better navigate the conflicts that inevitably show up on the journey of any meaningful relationship.
