Tradition for Transformation: How many people assume they’re good with God because they grew up in a Christian home or go to church each week? In Romans 2, Paul explains that it’s not religious traditions that matter, but a true transformation of the heart.

Self-Righteous for Self-Aware: God has invited us to live fully aware of our sinfulness, and at the same time fully aware of God’s grace. To live with both realities protects us from self-righteousness and allows us to live out the true way of Jesus.

Desires for Design: God designed us to do life in a certain way, but He gives the decision whether or not to do so to us. When we choose our desires and abandon God and His design, we miss out on the fullness of life God has for us.

God gave us His creation so we could know Him. Yet, instead of worshiping the Creator, Paul writes in Romans that people worshiped “idols made to look like mere people and birds and animals and reptiles.” How do we do this today? And how can we stop?

Starting off strong is just the beginning... continuing to be intentional is where lasting change is found. Pursing Jesus as the primary purpose of our life, will bring us to crossroads of decisions. Places where we willingly trade God’s best for our idea of better. But, we will discover, it always worth the trade!

The promise of the good life in Jesus, is a promise of a life of victory. If God is for us, who can be against us? The one who defeated death calls us His- we have nothing to fear. As we conclude this series, our commitment is to live confident, believing that His victory really is ours and that whatever this life throws our way, we won’t be overthrown. Jesus loves us, fights for us, and He has invited us to claim His victory. He is walking with us along a good path of His love, and because of Jesus, nothing can separate us from this love that brings us home.

In the midst of suffering, weakness, and enemies, Paul’s desire is that we would know that God is for us and with us. God has not abandoned us in this life to fend for ourselves, He is protecting and interceding for us. There is nothing that can separate us from His love that provides and protects and His invitation is that we can experience His goodness in the midst of whatever we face.

We have a real enemy seeking to discourage us and leave us crippled with insecurity and anxiety. He wants us to forget about the finishing work of the cross, and fall back into a life of slavery to the gods of this world. But we are invited to stand firm, remaining confident in what Jesus has done for us and in the many ways God has been working long before we were ever aware that He was. The good life is a life of confidence that God’s ways are life-giving and the identity He gives us as His children is sure. God doesn’t want us to live blown and tossed by the wind, but walking confidently in all that He has made for us. In Jesus we can be confident that God deeply loves us as His own children, and that as His children, we are living life to the full.
