Good Friday 2017
Because of the benefit of history, we know that Good Friday was not the end. Easter Sunday was coming! But the disciples in Jesus' time did not know what was ahead. In this message, Pastor Skyler reminds us that if we don't learn to sit in the tension of Good Friday, the resolution of Easter will never be as sweet. Join us for this replay of the Good Friday 2017 service at Heritage Church.
Jesus: The Foot Washer
We continue our lead up to Easter with our Jesus series, looking at some of the most incredible, head shaking moments of the life of Jesus. In John 13, Jesus washes the feet of His disciples, and in doing so, He teaches a powerful lesson about what it means to truly be His follower. In this message, Pastor Skyler challenges us to consider what it means to live a life that is truly surrendered to our Lord. Imagine the impact in our marriages, our families, and this world if we lovingly gave up our rights, our preferences, and our honor to serve others as Christ did. When we love Jesus in this way, fully surrendered to Him, people around us see Jesus.
Jesus: The Wave Walker
We continue our lead up to Easter with our Jesus series, looking at some of the most incredible, head shaking moments of the life of Jesus. Each of these moments carries much more than a miracle in their stories, but lessons for all of us that remind us of what is possible for our lives when we put our trust in Him. When a guy walks on water… you pay attention to what he is all about out. Check out this week's sermon about Jesus the wave walker!
Jesus: The Bread Maker
Over the next few weeks leading up to Easter Sunday, we are taking a look at some of the most incredible, head shaking moments when we put our trust in Him. In this first message in the series, Pastor Skyler walks us through John 6 where Jesus turns a few loaves and fishes into a feast for thousands. Some people struggle with miracles in the Bible, but once you buy into the first verse of the Bible, miracles such as this one are easy to buy into. Skyler challenges us to consider: if God can create everything out of nothing, what can He do with our little?
In the Meantime: Be Unified
We live in a polarized culture, where lines are drawn in the sand leading to divisions based on differences, even in the church. In this message, Pastor Justin shares Jesus' clear message from John 17: be unified!
In the Meantime: Be Prayerful
When we are in "meantime moments" we tend to look for opportunities to work our way out. We like to keep busy! Like people stuck in a traffic jam who just want forward motion, we take the first off-ramp we see even if it means driving way out of the way. Prayer is something so different; it is us stopping and embracing the wait. It is forward-motion that moves our hearts closer to God, while our bodies remain absolutely still. In this message, Pastor Skyler walks us through John 17 to examine the way Jesus prayed.
In the Meantime: Be Resilient
They say the only thing you can count on in this world is trouble. Countless songs have been written about this very idea. When we are in "meantime moments" we are guaranteed to have trouble. If we are going to get through these moments, we are going to have to have some resilience. In this message, Pastor Carlos shares from John 15:18-27 about how to endure hardships. Here's a hint from Carlos' mom: "Tell me who you're with and I'll tell you who you are!"
In the Meantime: Be Loving
Have you found yourself in a place in life, just waiting for something to happen? Are you anxious about the outcomes of the life you are investing in right now? When you are in a meantime moment, you find yourself in good company. The disciples were left without Jesus and what were they supposed to do? Jesus instructs us to love one another and love those who God has given you in the meantime.
