(ir)Responsible: Just Do It!
When faced with someone who is not taking responsibility, we have some choices. We are called to pray. Bringing our challenges and concerns to the Lord in prayer is always a good choice.
But there are times that we avoid taking the next step. Could it be that what we really need to do is to follow up that prayer with action--calling out the irresponsibility? Could it be that we hide behind misguided compassion, avoiding the more difficult conversation that needs to happen?
In this message, Pastor Brian draws lessons from Joshua chapter 7, helping us see how we are to respond to the irresponsibility of others.
(ir)Responsible: Laws of Responsibility
"Whatever a man sows that shall he also reap." Whether one wants to believe this or not, it's just true. This law of responsibility works every time. You can leverage it for good things or you can ignore it and face the consequences. In this message, Pastor Brian unpacks this principle of responsibility from Galatians 6.
(ir)Responsible: Understanding Responsibility
By just about any measure, culture has fundamentally moved from responsible to irresponsible. Yet irresponsibility doesn't erase responsibility. In this first message in our new (ir)Responsible series, Pastor Brian shows from the early chapters of Genesis there is a direct correspondence between responsibilities and rules. Irresponsibility begins when we seek to redefine God's intention in giving us responsibility, and it is defeated by intentionally taking ownership, repenting, and changing course.
Problem Solvers
How can we solve problems that we did not create? Looking at the life of Jesus, we see: HE WENT to where the people were. HE SAW people for who they really were. HE HAD compassion on them. Then and only then did he enlist the help of the disciples saying that the harvest was plenty, but the workers were few. In this message from Pastor Andrew Wilson, we see that outreach--meeting needs and solving problems--is all of our responsibility.
