HUMBLE
BEGINNINGS...
Heritage
Church (known then as Samaritan Ministries) began with very humble
beginnings as a "helps" or servant ministry to other
ministries in the area. As the name "Samaritan" suggests,
we were a group of people who simply helped or aided others.
We worked with other ministries helping organize outreach events,
concerts, ministry workdays, improvement projects, etc. Serving
others was a way of life.
As time went on, we prayed and sought God for direction. As we did so, He began
to lead us in the direction of starting a church. In response to this prompting,
we began meeting in the living room of Apostle Boffo. As the church grew,
we
moved from there to rent St. Johns Episcopal Church in Gibbsboro. From there
we moved
to rent the Hamilton School Gymnasium. We can not thank or adequately communicate
our appreciation to St. Johns and the Township of Voorhees for widening their
scope of commitment to the people in this area to make this church plant a reality.
During this time, we had the opportunity of returning to our nomadic roots. Everything
we owned as a church went in and out of a van every Sunday. Although we went
through many situations that both challenged us and changed us, still we hung
on to the promise that if we would concentrate on the ministry to people, the
Lord would provide us with a permenent facility.
Through an odd set of circumstances that could only be described as miraculous
(it really would take some time to explain it all), the incomparable commitment
of the people here at Heritage Church, and financial support from the people
at Commerce Bank, we were able to purchase our present facility here in Voorhees,
NJ. There is not a day that goes by that we do not stand in awe of God¹s
goodness and his many blessings. We thank Him for all that He has done and all
that He is going to continue to do through the people at Heritage Church.

Distinctives...
-
Heritage
Church is a non-denominational Christian New Testament
church whose membership is made up of people from many
different religious backgrounds.
-
Heritage
Church is not simply a multi-racial church, but a multi-cultural
church that works hard to celebrate and appreciate
others from different cultural, racial and economic
backgrounds. In doing so, we find ourselves enriched
by the diversity of this interactive process.
-
The
worship experience at Heritage Church is often diverse,
dynamic, demonstrative and very interactive. The contemporary,
relaxed but reverent atmosphere helps people to be
themselves and worship in a way in which they are comfortable.
The diversity of the worship teams makes every Sunday
a unique and exciting worship experience.
-
At
Heritage Church we highly value the biblical imperative
to yield to the Holy Spirit. While we have an order
to our worship service, we always want to make room
for the Lord when he chooses to make himself known.
While these times are the exception, not the norm,
these "blessed interruptions" are often
reminders of how the Lord wants us to yield to His
authority
and allow Him to manifest his presence as only He
can.
-
At
Heritage Church we believe strongly in building through
relationships. Although relationships can be challenging,
we believe that it is the best, strongest, and most
rewarding way to build. Don¹t be surprised by
our coffee and fellowship time following our Sunday
service. We really enjoy getting to know one another!
-
We
at Heritage Church value the unique way in which God
has created each individual. Through various means,
we work with each interested individual to find out
just how God has wired them. Together we discover their
spiritual gifts, their passion, and how they go about
fulfilling their passion. By doing this, we recognize
the empowerment zone already resident in each individual
and can celebrate and release that gift for benefit
the church.
-
For
many years, Heritage Church has been at the forefront
of building bridges, and breaking down barriers among
races, churches and cultures Apostle Boffo had hosted
a monthly interdenominational prayer meeting for
pastors and full time Christian workers for more than 10
years.
Under his leadership, Heritage Church has come to
be known as a place of prayer and relationship development
among various ministries in the tri-county area.
-
Over
the years, Heritage Church has developed a dynamic
ongoing ministry to women throughout the Delaware Valley.
Women from the tri-state area regularly attend these
practical life-affirming and life- changing meetings
taught by some of the finest women ministers available.
-
At
Heritage Church we have a keen awareness of the importance
of having a Christian Worldview...and there is no better
way to walk that out than within the family. Husband/wife
relationships, parent/child relationships and other
family relationships are the building blocks of our
society and proving ground for our worldview. We support
and encourage the family unit and place a priority
on ministries that strengthen families.
-
In
the same way, we at Heritage Church believe in the
uniqueness of each child. We endeavor to come along
side of parents and reinforce the biblical values
and principles that are hopefully being modeled at
home.
We see children not as the church of tomorrow, but
rather the church of today.
-
The
Jr. Church Ministry here at Heritage Church not only
educates children in biblical principles, but also
uses tools like drama to encourage them to be comfortable
speaking in front of others. Our drama department has
been growing and has been putting on outstanding productions
both at Christmas and at Easter.

Heritage
Goverment...
Heritage
Church is governed by a Board of Elders and a Board of Deacons.
Each having their own responsibilities.
The
finances of the church are overseen not only by the Deacons
and Elders, but also the Financial Team, and a CPA who is
hired as a third party.
Yearly we go through a voluntary ministry evaluation led by a third party facilitator.
This objective process allows us to solicit the input from a diverse group
of people from the congregation and helps us as we plan for the future.
